I dunno, when I was a kid I used to pick them off until the day I forgot and noticed the incredible freshness of a strawberry stem. later in my life I tried it with grapes and noticed another realy nice earthy nuance, that and it comes with the benefit of having something more to chew. If you're feeling a bitter kick you can eat them alone or add them to salads as well.
I get weird looks but the taste and texture disaude me from stopping and I've heard most fiber can be found in undesirable parts of fruits like stem and skin. most people eat way too little fiber that won't be me if I have much to do with it.
