In the last episode of Season 7, Hyde goes to Chicago with the intent to propose to Jackie but then catches her in a motel with Kelso after which Kelso runs away and Hyde ends up spending the next month away from Point Place, apparently in Chicago but mostly in Las Vegas. Why!?? Doesn't he have a record store to run? This is never explained and then in Season 8, Episode 1, Jackie shows up in Point Place and says: 'I'm here to get Steven back'. Why did it take her a full month to come back to Point Place and decide she wanted him back? We don't know what happened between them right after Hyde caught Jackie with Kelso, we just see him chasing Kelso.

Also, while I know the timeline of the show is confusing and not to be taken seriously, has it ever been explained or established for how long Eric was in Africa? In the last episodes of Season 7, they all make it seem like he is going to be gone for a year maybe more but in reality I'm wondering if perhaps he was only gone for a few months.
