I'm heading to Thailand for 3 weeks, specifically Koh Samui (yes, I know it's tourist hell, but my muay thai coach has a good relationship with one of the gyms there). It'll be my first time in Thailand and I'm keen to avoid any accidental cultural insensitivity. I don't want to disrespect anyone, nor do I want to look like an ignorant tourist. Does anyone have any pointers on manners, what to do/say (or what to avoid) when entering restaurants/coffee shops or ordering food? Even the most basic mistakes might appear obvious to you, but not to me, so patronise away!
