Hello,
I'm planning a future trip to Thailand with my wife. We'll have 13 nights in total, and we want to visit Bangkok and an island. We'll start with relaxation on an island and end our trip with 6 nights in Bangkok.
I'm considering either Koh Chang and Koh Kood versus Koh Samui. We're in our late 30s, have no interest in nightlife or partying, and just want to relax in a tropical paradise, enjoy the beach and the pool, do some snorkeling, and maybe go for a hike. We like luxury and want to stay in 5-star hotels, with a maximum budget of 250€/night.
I was thinking of spending 3 nights in Koh Chang at KC Grande Resort, mainly to relax after the long trip (it will be more than 24 hours straight of traveling to get there). Then, moving for 4 nights to Tinkerbell Resort in Koh Kood (their beachfront villas look great to me), doing a snorkeling trip and hiking to see the waterfalls.
I'm not sure if it's worth splitting our time between the two islands; maybe it would be better to spend all 7 nights in one place? In this case would you choose Koh Chang or Koh Kood?
As for Koh Samui, it seems to have a lot more things to do, and there are many nice hotels to choose from. The only thing holding me back is the expensive flights (22,500 THB for both of us), with the added hassle of collecting our luggage in BKK, exiting arrivals, and checking in again at departures. For Koh Chang/Koh Kood, we were quoted 10,000 THB for a roundtrip private car transfer from BKK to the islands and back to our hotel in Bangkok.
Which destination would you choose? Thank you for the advice!
