First Time in Asia - Need Help Planning My Thailand Itinerary

Post Body

I’m from Latin America (Ecuador), and I’m super excited about my upcoming trip to Thailand! I’ll be there from January 13th to February 11th, and it’s my first time in Asia. This trip feels like a dream come true, and I’d love your advice to make it unforgettable.

My Rough Plan:

Bangkok: Start here (unsure how long to stay)

Pattaya: Thinking of 2 days

Koh Samui: 3–4 days

Koh Phangan: 2–3 days

Khao Sok National Park: 3 days

Krabi: Arriving February 4th to meet friends, probably stay 5–6 days

My Dilemma:

I want to experience Chinese New Year in Bangkok (January 26-31), but I’m unsure if it’s worth rearranging my trip. Would it be inconvenient or wasteful (in terms of money and time) to leave Bangkok and return just for CNY?

What I’m Into:

Nature & Adventure: Hiking, snorkeling, and exploring unique landscapes and wildlife. Coming from Ecuador, I’ve experienced a lot of incredible nature, so I’d love to see something truly different and new.

Nice Places to Stay: Comfortable hotels or residences, but nothing extravagant.

Cultural Experiences: I’d like to focus on immersing myself in the local culture and natural beauty, not partying or nightlife.

Budget:

Around $1k for everything (hopefully).

Questions:

  1. Is Chinese New Year in Bangkok worth seeing? Or should I skip it and focus on other parts of my trip?

  2. How would you recommend I organize my itinerary to make the most of my time? Should I explore Bangkok first, leave, and come back for CNY?

  3. Are there must-visit places or activities that would offer something truly unique for someone from Latin America?

  4. Are the suggested days per location reasonable? Should I adjust to spending more or less time in certain places?

I’m hoping this trip will be an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime experience, but I’m feeling a little overwhelmed trying to plan everything. Any advice or tips you can share would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much in advance for your help!
