I’m spending a few days in Chiang Mai during my trip in February and would like to spend 1-2 nights in Pai as well. My understanding is that the bus is the easiest way to get between the two cities; is it advisable to get a ticket in advance, or can I just buy one at the terminal? (also, do all three terminals have departures to Pai?)

I’m also open to other suggested modes of transportation. Not at all opposed to the bus, but I have a little extra padding in my budget if there are other recommended ways to get there, especially if it saves time.
