Loy Krathong - best place for it?

I'm going to be in Thailand for the Loy Krathong festival, originally had planned to be in Bangkok from November 17th - 24th and then move on to another city. (Nothing planned past the 24th yet) Is it worth it to stay in Bangkok for the festival or is a different part of Thailand better? Or does it actually make a difference? Thanks in advance!
