Should I go to Phuket or Koh Samui in August/September?

I'm planning to go stay and train at a muay thai camp for 2 weeks between the end of August and early September, and I'm set between these two places.
Phuket because it has the best gyms of the kind around, so I'd go mostly for that, but various people told me Koh Samui is just more beautiful and much better weather for this period. Of course, ideally I'd wanna enjoy the beach too and maybe go for a swim besides just the training.
Any tips appreciated! Thanks a lot.
