I will be in Thailand from mid-October until March or April (teaching English from November until February). I am on many behavioral medications that I have been taking for years, and I am currently jumping through hoops trying to figure out what the best course of action is to ensure that I will either have enough medication to last me five to six months, or be able to acquire my medication while abroad. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience getting their medication(s) refilled while in Thailand. How difficult was it? Some more information:
-I am currently taking Citalopram (Celexa), Lorazepam (Ativan), Adderall extended release and Adderall instant-release, Aripiprazole (Abilify), and Topiramate (Topamax). The two Adderalls and the Ativan are “controlled substances,” which means it's extremely hard to get more than one month's supply at a time.
-I am on MassHealth (I live in Massachusetts), and currently trying to persuade my insurance to release and pay for at least three months' worth of medication before I leave.
Does anyone have any experience with anything like this? Any information would be helpful. If I can't get my medication here, what kind of doctor should I go to in Thailand? Can I just go to any pharmacy with my prescriptions? Do I have to have my medical record? Sorry for so much detail, I'm just freaking out a little bit since I literally cannot function if I do not take these medications, and could end up losing my job.
