Running awful on IOS

Does anyone know why TextNow runs so horribly on iPhone. Works great on my Android tablet. Starting about iOS 16 it is almost I useable. Slow and laggy. I thought an iOS update would help but there have been many between then and now 17 and it’s the same thing. Any tweets I can do?
