I'm taking this with a pretty big grain of salt because it's very difficult to project what minor leaguers will do in the major leagues. But it's still interesting, and it highlights how important a farm system is. And if you believe the projections, how good the Rangers farm system is.
With or without KATOH I do believe the Rangers have a top 5 or so system right now. That's particularly exciting because that minor league system was built while the Rangers were winning 90 games a year. Last year they were terrible and as a result will be able to add even more talent this summer than they usually do.
While the big league team has some question marks for 2015 and a lot of money committed over the next four or five years, the organization as a whole is in very, very good shape.
