So back when the remake and prequel to the remake had been released, a concept for a trilogy set directly after the original film was in the works, with James Wan set to direct the first one and Tobe Hooper to direct one of them. Each film would take up the space of a day, the first one picking up where the first one ended. The films would feature the aftermath of the original and focus mainly on Leatherface and his attempt to take revenge on a cult that killed his family. He returns home from chasing Sally to find his home ablaze and his family members dead.

The origin of the family's cannibalism would have been explored and the reveal that the family belonged to a religious cult known as The Colony that practiced ceremonial cannibalism, volunteered, not forced. The Sawyers would have gotten a brain disorder from eating the brains of people and started killing and eating people. The Colony banished them and so they started their crime spree of killing and eating people. Leatherface would have gone up against this cult while others were hunting him down as well. Also, they were gonna be shot all at once on a budget of 10 million and shot on 16mm film to give it the look of the original. No studio would be attached and they would have been
self made films, free from studio interference. Sadly, Lionsgate acquired the rights to the series and told them they had to make the films PG-13, feature no cannibalism, be 3D, and be set in present day, effectively making their three films null.

Seeing a James Wan directed TCM film would have been amazing, I think, as well as seeing what Tobe Hooper's would have been like. What do you think? Would you rather have gotten this or the TCM 3D and Leatherface movies?
