Why do high level Tetris players dislike the Gameboy version?

I notice that a lot of high level players, particularly of the NES version, have a very poor opinion of the Gameboy version. The Gameboy version is my childhood Tetris, and I’m curious why people don’t like it? Does it have to do with the speed curve, which kicks are available?
