So, two years ago I insisted that my doctor run a blood test for my testosterone levels. Always felt throughout my life that they were low, but never got it checked out. These were my results from 2 years ago (test done before 10am and only test ever done):
Total testosterone: 256 ng/dL Free: 8.3 ng/dL SHBG: 10 nmol/L
He didn't seem concerned despite some of my symptoms (the usual) and finally prescribed some cream after I insisted. Tbh, though, I never tried it because of my dear of the potential side effects (already have man boobs from being 30-40 pounds overweight and didn't want it to become worse/more permanent).
I'm 47 now and so I don't know if it's age related or has been like this for a long time. I also deal with depression (undiagnosed) and I don't know if my symptoms are being affected by that or if it's T related. Been thinking about going to see an endocrinologist to get some better answers.
I know this was a bit of a ramble, but based on these numbers, should I be concerned? Would a visit to the endocrinologist be recommended? Thanks in advance.
