Have you taken your Model Y to a car wash? What's the trick?

I hear you shouldn't take your Tesla through car washes because of brushes or something - but my car needs a wash and I'm not doing it.
What type of car washes are acceptable, what's the deal with staying in the car and putting it in neutral, should I be looking at those self-car washes with the power washer?
