I drive about 700 miles a week, and it was time for a ānew to-me car.ā Iām a very pragmatic person and try to save money where I can. A few years back I put in a solar system via Will Prowse (DIY Solar guy) and I have more power than I can use. So I figured Iād get an EV. I think I got pretty lucky with a M3 2023 RW SR. 2500mi on the odometerā¦ for $27k.
My thoughts
-the standard range LFP battery can be charged to 100% giving me 270mi versus the long range at 360mi @ 80% = 288mi. To me, this is a no brainerā¦ Iāll take the cheaper one any day.
-LFP has a longer life, and is safer to drive
-I havenāt experienced snow yet, but I will get the snow tires when the time comes, and I live in a place that only gets ridiculous a few times a year
-Maybe Iām lucky, but Iāve already put 10,000mi on my car and havenāt had a single issue. I charge overnight for free (thank you again Will). Zero maintenanceā¦ I havenāt spent a dime! (Except FSD) Unbelievable! FSD handles most of my commuteā¦ so much, packed into this carā¦ and for relatively cheap.
