My thoughts after 3mo with the standard range M3
Post Body

I drive about 700 miles a week, and it was time for a ā€œnew to-me car.ā€ Iā€™m a very pragmatic person and try to save money where I can. A few years back I put in a solar system via Will Prowse (DIY Solar guy) and I have more power than I can use. So I figured Iā€™d get an EV. I think I got pretty lucky with a M3 2023 RW SR. 2500mi on the odometerā€¦ for $27k.

My thoughts

-the standard range LFP battery can be charged to 100% giving me 270mi versus the long range at 360mi @ 80% = 288mi. To me, this is a no brainerā€¦ Iā€™ll take the cheaper one any day.

-LFP has a longer life, and is safer to drive

-I havenā€™t experienced snow yet, but I will get the snow tires when the time comes, and I live in a place that only gets ridiculous a few times a year

-Maybe Iā€™m lucky, but Iā€™ve already put 10,000mi on my car and havenā€™t had a single issue. I charge overnight for free (thank you again Will). Zero maintenanceā€¦ I havenā€™t spent a dime! (Except FSD) Unbelievable! FSD handles most of my commuteā€¦ so much, packed into this carā€¦ and for relatively cheap.
