Question about the skeleton merchant.

I've been trying to find this jerk since hardmode started to buy a yoyo glove and make a yoyo bag. I always keep the lifeform analyzer and hunter potions on me. Like 5 or 6 times now I've seen the merchants name on the analyzer so I pop a hunter potion and I cant see him on my screen but if I move even a couple feet away to look for him his name disappears. Very frustrating. Any tips to find him when his name pops up?
