Can anyone help me understand how to build this Lizhard farm? [Linked video in post]

I'm totally new to farming anything other than chlorophyte ore on Terraria, so I don't really understand how this works.
What I do understand;
Teleporters are hooked up for teleportations every 5 seconds between three areas. This increases the spawn rate.
What I don't understand:
How do hook them up exactly.
How to build the structure.
What's killing the enemies.
What's stopping them from killing me.
I specifically want to figure out the Lizhard farm, as I need power cells to try and get an Eye of the Golum.
