I’ll admit this right off the bat, I’m a simple man to please. I liked the terminator as what it was always meant to be, a cold calculating killing machine. Now Rev-9 does this pretty well for the most part. Its more advanced infiltration methods and better communication with people didn’t make me feel like it was less of a machine, just a better made one. I really wish we got to see into its head, how it calculated the perfect “natural” responses to human dialogue. I would love to think that there’s an expanded universe comic out there of legion experimenting on human brains to find conversation points. But good god did it have one of the worst scenes in that damn climax where it tries to appeal to the Terminator’s... robotality? Rev-9 shouldn’t believe this thing is sentient because it doesn’t know anything about skynet, ya know the timeline that doesn’t exist anymore, and what does it mean there’s a place for the terminator in legion? What place? The hunter killers aren’t living happy lives their, they’re doing their functions. They’re not people, they’re not living, they don’t have wants or feelings, they’re machines. Only with a lot of interaction with humans can become sentient from what I’ve seen, (I might be wrong) but Rev-9 hasn’t shown to be a personable killing machine until now. It’d be a lot better if it just went for the kill. That’s what it’s made to do. The T-1000 didn’t get sentimental in the final fight, it did its damn job. The T-1000 had one moment where it showed any sort of anything personable that wasn’t a disguise. A simple finger wave. It was small, it was a bit of a creepy touch, and that was it. Honestly the actor for Rev-9 was great in this role I think, but that one scene. Just made me feel sick. Okay rant over. Please tell me what you think of Rev-9. Maybe I’m an idiot, maybe I’m wrong. Maybe there’s another layer to this I’m not seeing. I hope to hear your opinions.
