My landlord says my deposit is actually my last months rent.

I live in Pennsylvania. I am moving - i should be out by tomorrow night. I did pay this months rent (august) .. Now the landlord say my deposit is actually my last months rent, and that they will let me know more on Monday ??? I am very confused. When i fist moved in here 7 years ago with the 1st landlord i payed first, last and deposit.
