On the Tekken 7 wiki for Katarina’s profile, both her age and occupation were put as unknown unlike Christie’s profile (age: 19; occupation: capoeira student).

Also these side-by-side images are similar in terms of hair colour and skin tone to [potentially] warrant this explanation for my theory:

Even though Katarina has her own story of finding out Gigas is her father, this may be just a red herring to distract from the bigger narrative.

I’m thinking of a plot line similar to Jason Bourne, where Christie Monteiro (for unexplained reasons) gets captured by an unknown government/corporate entity and brainwashed into becoming a “different” person (switching fighting styles, change in personality, clothing style, etc.) who is programmed to fight against G Corporation.

The backstory of Katarina is just a fabrication by said entity to further brainwash the memories of Christie, hence why she may not be in Tekken 7 or future Tekkens.

This may be far fetched. But I hope if Katarina comes back in Tekken 8 as DLC, her character arcade ending would be her rummaging through files to discover her true identity all along, Christie Monteiro…
