So earlier today /u/asympdote raised a couple of questions about Technostism (or at least how it is described in the sidebar). Basically, asympdote was pointing out that Technostism (as described in the sidebar and /u/Yuli-Ban's manifesto) is not really an economic theory, but rather a exploration of some of the changes in social and economic organization that could result from full automation.
/u/Yuli-Ban replied by basically saying the details of Technostism are a work-in-progress, and we should discuss. This is a great answer, but it got me thinking about the point of this subreddit and how it is presented to the average reddittor.
My question is: Is this subreddit about answering the question "what comes next," or is it about /u/Yuli-Ban's particular conception of a Techno-syndicalist movement?
It it about coming up with a solution or presenting a solution?
If it is about the former, I would humbly suggest that we might want to change the sidebar to present the problem (automation is coming, how do we change) instead of a particular solution... parts of it are already there on the sidebar - it would just need to be summarized.
Any thoughts?
(Note: I am not a mod, and I don't want to step on anyone's toes here - clearly this is not my decision to make, I just wanted to bring it up for discussion)
