Hi everyone 😁
This might be a long one but id really appreciate some help and guidance. Started learning the art of disc jockeying in 2015. Learnt Ableton through Live school in Surry Hills, Sydney 2018.
At this point I have performed DJ gigs in Mumbai where I am from and in Sydney where I currently am. Includes a number of genres (Techno, house, commercial, top 50, bollywood, hip-hop and rap.
Production wise I create dark hypnotic techno along the lines of Richie Hawtin, Stef Mendisides, Matrixxman, Vladimir Dubyshkin and Yan Cook only to name a few as inspiration. https://on.soundcloud.com/Nz79J
At this stage, I own:
-Push 2 which I absolutely can't live without -OPZ - PO 32 Tonic.
- Moog dfam subharmonicon (had to sell due to covid) might buy again
I intend to change my workflow and move to a dawless setup and only jump in ableton to make finishing touches/minimal adjustments as I release my music independently. This will be the backbone for my live performances.
Some dilemma regarding which gear to invest in.
Do I go the Maschine / Push 3 standalone/controller route or build my own custom (Android-esque) setup
Mixer: Teenage engineering TX 6 Drums: Roland T8 303 Percussion: Behringer edge (Cheap dfam alternative) Synth sampler visuals : OPZ Misc extra: PO32 Tonic (love the punch in FX) Don't mind adding Roland tr6s or mc707 (not having huge and heavy gear)
My intention is to slowly move away from DJing as it's not feeding my soul anymore. I only wanna play my own music.
My goal is to perform the way Vladimir dubyshkin does w Apc40 or the way Stef mendisides destroys everything with the M . I am comfortable carrying my laptop so the controller version doesnt bother me that much too. Only the convenience of having something standalone.
Once again thank you for going through this post and leaving feedback 😀
