Caulk borders?

Last camping trip of 2022 I noticed the plastic covers that tan along the edges of my t@g cracked. They actually started flapping as I was driving down the highway and I had to pull over and pull them off. Any reason I couldn’t just fill the areas with clear caulk? (Location in question is portrayed by the red lines in the photo.)
