Getting better at the game as a new player

Post Body

Hey TFT community. I’m a new player, been playing since around Christmas time. First few weeks was a blur lol (as in I had very little clue how to play and what I was doing). Now, I’ve been understanding the game much better but I still have bad games and struggle. I try to be updated with patch notes too.

My question is about memorization. I have lots of troubles with itemization and memorizing what items make what and what items should go on who. Should I just memorize everything? Or will it come better over time? Some items I know what they make (like blue buff and such) because it’s easy to memorize.

I can top 4 in Normals but absolutely not in ranked lol. Seems like this game isn’t as easy as I thought it would be.

I understand synergies and try to build strong comps and use websites to help. For reference, I’ve never played anything similar or LoL. And memorizing all the champions and what they do I’m still trying. Seems like I came late to the party and most people who play aren’t “noobs” like I am lol.

Econ, leveling up, and being strategic I’m also getting the hang of things.

At what point did the game “click” for you? Was it after a few weeks? A few months? Still getting the hang of things?

All in all, super fun game which is why I still play even if I get 5-8th lol. If it wasn’t for my boyfriend I think I might still be way more clueless, lol. Also, I watch streamers too and that helps sometimes.

Also when the next set comes out, will I have trouble and go back to being clueless or is it similar enough I’ll be okay? Thanks for any comments/advice.
