I love watching people watch dbza for the first time. And i remember when canadian subs were added as a joke. But now, especially the Csubs for later episodes, they DEFEAT the purpose of subtitles!
Subtitles are supposed to be exactly that. SUB-titles, they add to the experience but dont distract from it. The Canadian subs are more like Domtitles. They can be anything from a joke that takes too long to read, so you dont see the joke in the csubs OR hear the joke in the show, to sometimes SPOILING THE JOKE BEFORE IT HAPPENS
I saw one youtuber reacting to gohan v cell
Cells doing his suck my perfect dick kamehameha, and the Csubs make a joke about being a solar flare. A callback to the time when goku did it a couple eps before and krillin thinks hes going for a solar flare
WELL the watcher stopped listening to the episode and got into pause mode cause they thought a solar flare was coming. They were getting ready for a fast joke. Ultimately, the Csubs HURT the experience.
Some of the csubs feel like theyre trying to abridge the abridged. Making jokes about jokes, only the person watching it doesnt know the first layer of joke!
Tldr canadian subs only hurt the experience and I personally think it would be better if they were removed altogether. Nobody watching for the first time should even consider them.
