Just what the title says. I was feeling, dare I say, a little optimistic for some of my classes coming back to class today post break.

But first period rolls around and boom, first class comes in, wastes the entire hour long class period refusing to let me talk, and then absolutely belittles me as they leave. Just the absolute meanest motherfuckers. And then to go on the rest of the day, 4 other grades left, like nothing happened...

Most days, I can handle their degredation. Some days are rough and it hits a nerve. But today, after such a nice break spent around people that see me as a human being, to then wake up one day and be called horrible things by 25 faces at once...it really makes you question your career choices.

But who am I to complain? I'm just a first year teacher that is still developing their callous towards the nasty well deserved degredation from students while still serving up all the patience and kindness in the world in response. Gotta keep up that callous.
