I fell out of love with teaching because of the amount of things they put on our plate. I thought it would get better starting the year but they slammed me with 5 preps even though I told them I didn’t feel comfortable with it and there could be another way to get me down to 3 preps. Anyway, I started calling in sick because I started having panic attacks before work to where I just couldn’t face the students because I was so scatterbrained trying to do 1000% for all classes. They know that I had trouble with the job. My contract states that I would have to leave with a good reason OR because I got a better paying job. I sent a formal resignation letter and they got a long term sub for my classes. I let my department head know before I sent in my resignation letter that I didn’t know if I was going to continue. In my request for release of contract letter earlier this month, I cited that I needed to focus on my overall health which can include mental health. I haven’t gotten a response yet, even with checking in with the principal. I’m sure the district can tell by the amount of sick days I’ve taken that it’s an issue.
I’ve accepted a non-education job and will start soon. My plans are to become an educational diagnostician within the next few years and the certificate program requires a valid teaching license. I think having that as a career instead would be more fulfilling for me. I don’t want to teach, but I don’t want to lose my license.
My question is, do you think they would suspend my license or revoke it completely?
