Happy final months of school! I'll keep this as brief as possible, but I'm looking for any and all advice.
For the past six years, I've taught at a small private school that I've been massively unhappy at since my first year. After a recent incident where I was gaslit by my admin in front of colleagues, I've finally reached a breaking point and have decided to explore other options.
I absolutely nailed an interview with a new school last week, and they want to invite me to campus for a final interview and to see me teach an example lesson. However, they also want me to let my current admin know that I've sent my resume to different schools and have started to search for other opportunities. I'm worried that if I do, and if something goes wrong at this final interview at the new school, I'll be out of a job in the fall. Despite the teacher shortage, my current admin is not at all forgiving and I anticipate retaliation.
Anyone ever been in a similar spot where they fear retaliation from current admin after giving notice that you're applying elsewhere? How did you handle it? What's my best course of action?
TL;DR - Did well at an interview, but new school wants me to let me current school know I've applied elsewhere before I even secure the new position. Hesitant to tell current admin that I've applied elsewhere for fear of retaliation in a hostile work environment.
