Post Body

Got told this by a friend who is in college this morning. It's the end of the quarter, I just put in my resignation (I'm moving states) and I was just told this. I understand where they are coming from, but not everyone went to a good Middle School or High School. Unfortunately, not everyone had parents/legal guardians who held them accountable for their grades and behavior at school.

I think it's amazing the work that we put into our careers, I think a lot of us want to see ALL of students succeed, but sometimes students just don't care.

Earlier in February, I had a student tell me he was going to stop trying in my class because basketball season is over. His grade tanked in the past three weeks and he just doesn't care. The only reason he wanted to keep his grades up was for basketball. I can't just call the parents and say "oh your child is failing my class" because THE PARENTS CARE EVEN LESS THAN THE STUDENTS.

Rant over, I'm going to apologize to my Middle School Social Studies Teacher from 2011 for being a POS child in their class.
