Resignation and Non-Renewal Question

Post Body

I’m in the my third year, and I found out in December that I wasn’t going to have my contract renewed. Based on advice from my union VP, I resigned in December before winter break (and my summative evaluation conference) to pre-empt the non renewal. My question for teachers out there is this: generally, is that something I have to divulge on an employment application?

Edit: I am still teaching and will finish out the school year before leaving my position

Here’s an example question from job applications to local schools: “Have you ever failed to be rehired, been asked to resign a position, or resigned to avoid termination? If so, please explain”. I resigned before any of my evaluation paperwork or non-renewal was officially filed, so my gut tells me that I can say no. Is that accurate?

Related note: My principal says they’ll write me a letter of rec and is “not out to end my career”. (Which is reassuring but does little to rebuild my shattered self-image as an educator). They seem trustworthy but I only trust admin as far as they can be thrown. Which isn’t far
