How do you find a teacher/class to observe for observation hours?

I have to do observation hours this term for school and I don't have the faintest clue how to go about figuring out how to find a teacher/class to observe. I don't know any teachers to ask. Do I just send a message to a school in the area and hope they get back to me? I'm afraid of asking the wrong way and making a bad impression at a school I might try and get a job at once I finish my degree. I would appreciate any incite into how I should go about this.
