I'm technically a relatively new teacher to the profession (only finished my 5th year) and I didn't get renewed for next year before the whole COVID breakout. I've already been treated horribly this year, students invading my personal space and harassing me at my home, and I'm glad I am leaving this school district, but I've been reflecting on my past positions and idk what direction i should take (stay and find another district or go into a noneducational career). I've been in 4 districts in 5 years of teaching between two different states. I enjoy teaching, its a complex puzzle which i like, but its the way i've been treated the last two years. I had an administrator who wanted me out since day one ( i was hired before she took over), and then this past year the students have treated me like a second class citizen. because of all of this, with little to no support from admin or co-workers, i've been battling severe bouts of depression (i've been diagnosed with MDD in the past) which led to a lack of confidence in myself and my career. This is the 2nd school i've been non-renewed from in 2 years, i had my position completely cut due to decrease in enrollment from my 2nd school after 2 years there, and only had a temp position at my first school.
Am i just a terrible teacher or just gotten the short straw every time? Every school except this past one, over 75% of my students loved me as their teacher, and some students went up at least a half letter grade with me as their teacher. i just dont know what to do and feel like i'm running in circles.
Any advice or insight would be appreciated. Thank you in advance!
