Iโm a first year 7-8 grade social studies at a school that has never even had social studies classes before this year. 8th grade curriculum is more modern-ish American history and 7th is earlier American history. Despite this, I need to cover the constitution in my 8th grade classes and I figured that the best time to do that would be the start of the year so we can move on to more modern times in a way that makes sense. They have no background in the American revolution at all, and I would like to keep this unit minimal since it isnโt part of 8th grade curriculum. All of this being said, what would be the minimum background knowledge that 8th graders would need to know to understand the context of the constitution? Where to start? Thanks so much. Also, if anyone has any interactive and engaging things they have done for the constitution in the past please let me know!
