I’m at my limit. I don’t think I’m a perfect teacher by any means, but this issue is not about training or experience. I’ve been reaching out to admin nearly everyday about the behaviors I’m seeing in a class. ( I hate to sound like I’m labeling but it’s literally the top 10 behavior kids in the grade all in one class of 30). The response is always, talk about this during your coaching meeting.
How the school is dealing with serious behaviors is clearly ineffective. Parents need to get involved earlier on and consequences need to be harsher than just getting pulled out of class and scolded (which is what they want). Why is admin so against changing kids schedules? Like, 50% of these behaviors would be solved if these kids were separated. I’m tired of being made to feel like I’m the problem.
Just to clarify: I don’t mean giving these students to another teacher btw, I’m the only one teaching this course! So I promise, this is not me just trying to get them out of my hair lol. It’s just that it’s the most challenging class and a lot of them could do much better if they were in a different section. I just wanna be able to teach lol. We wouldn’t be able to move all of them of course, but I think that a revised schedule would make a difference for a lot of them! Why couldn’t we discuss a schedule change for like the top 3? And of course, before doing that, we could look at how that would affect their other courses and get some insight from other teachers.
