This is my first year teaching after being a para for 6 years. Public.
My second graders are great, but they literally cannot stay quiet for more than 2 minutes. I timed them. I've tried call-and-response, "waterfall," Bouncyballs, Dojo noise meter, PBIS reward tickets, messaging parents, everything. They. Will. Not. Stop. To top it all off, we have a new ELA curriculum, which is a learning curve in and of itself and from the same company that our "beloved" math curriculum is from (our district doesn't make the best decisions, ok?).
I've spoken with grade partners, teacher leaders, and dean. Will mention it to admin at our PLC. Any advice on what more I can do?
