Hi USA teachers. I am aiming for Teacher Loan Forgiveness for my federal student loans. As I understand it, you need to work 5 consecutive school years in a Title I school and you can get more forgiveness if you work in certain subject areas. I have taught at a Title I school for 4 years as a math teacher.
My question is: if I switch schools to another Title I school for my fifth year does that restart the year count? As in, would I have to work 5 years at the new school in order to receive the forgiveness?
Also: If a school has a population that is considered title I by definition but doesnโt receive Title I funds for a year, does that still count towards the five years?
I have sent an email to the DOE but they take fifty forevers to respond and thought someone here might have some insight. TIA!
