I will be in my first class this coming school year and I'm super nervous since my program failed to place me in a mentorship... So I will have little to no actual classroom experience.
I'll be teaching middle school or high school history (depending on where I get a job), and I'm looking for some fun but not over the top things to do the first day (or several days).
I want them to get to know me and also share about themselves and get to know each other as well... But I don't want them to feel like it's pointless or the same ole ice breakers.
What have you done in the past that worked well? What do you share with them?
Bonus points if you're an introvert outside the classroom. I sometimes worry I'm too reserved to be a teacher. Haha. How do you break out of your shell and be authentic with students while being professional?
