Post Body

I am so very done with my students this year. The lack of effort is so incredibly annoying. Especially amongst my honors students.

I've got one group not putting forth any effort and cheating any way they can to where all my homework assignments are completion marks and I have been assigning more quizzes to get a true look at how they're doing.

I've got another that is snarky and smart ass-filled. Today's gimmick: it's a test day. I tell them to wrap up conversations as they get out the cheat sheet of formulas they can use. They haven't been doing great about staying quiet so I remind them that any talking while tests are still out will earn them an office referral and a non-correctable 0 on the test. Now every time someone sneezes, the entire class practically screams "BLESS YOU" at whoever sneezed.

Not to mention the seniors that have gotten accepted to colleges and have all but checked out for the year. Luckily for one of the worst offenders (well lucky for me not for the kid), I've talked to the mom and she's lighting a fire under their ass about finishing the year strong.

I've gotta just keep finding the laughter in some of this bullshit but this year needs to just finish already. 4 weeks and then finals 🥳
