Post Body

I just was in an interview for a new middle school teacher (dept. chair) with this young 21 year old kid who kept reiterating he cant wait to play at recess with the kids, be their friends, and when I asked what he wants others to see going on in his class he responded "Sports posters around the room." He has never done a lesson plan, and I know they have a lot to learn through experience, but after that bomb of an interview the VP goes, "You sound perfect for the job! We would like to offer you the position."

I was caught so off guard as we didn't discuss anything and thats never how interviews go for us. Usually we meet and go through the rubric, and then the principal does an interview to hire. This kid has no real qualifications, has no idea how to classroom management or even boundaries. Hes like a sports enthused airhead.

So I ask VP, what was that about? you really think he will be okay? AND SHE GOES, "Listen, were desperate. We have to hire another math and science teacher for MS as well. We have to hire multiple HS teachers. We take what we can get."

Its March 9th and they dont want to wait until the end of the school year (June) to see who may apply?! UGH VENT DONE. IM JUST SICK OF BABYSITTING OTHER CLASSES WITH NO CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT. 3 YEARS OF IT TRICKLING OVER AND DISTURBING MY CLASS DUE TO NOISE.
