I teach Middle School US History and we are on WW2 (school starts in July here, so almost done..). My other job is serving and this past weekend I met an incredible old man who happened to be a survivor of the Holocaust. We talked story, I went to breakfast the next day with his wife and him and we exchanged emails to keep in touch.
I am currently thinking of having these 8th graders write a letter to him and sending a gift basket (he is mailing me his newly published book, so we also exchanged addresses). I just have no idea what to have these students write about. Any ideas?
