Unpopular Opinion:
Post Body

Does anyone else find it kind of odd that we’re expected to frequently contact parents about students’ grades when they’re in high school? I know it’s an unpopular opinion but it feels like if they’re old enough to take the drivers test, they’re old enough to be responsible for their own grades. Maybe I’m just baffled by parent involvement in general- when I was a kid it would have never occurred to me that my school work was my parents’ responsibility at all, and I’m Gen Z so this isn’t an old person “back in my day” rant. I just wonder how these kids are supposed to be self sufficient adults if we’re expecting their mommies to make sure they do their homework at age 17.
