Hi everybody. I've been teaching Spanish and ESL for 15 years. World languages are drying up, and I feel very jaded doing ESL sometimes. All I do is tutor as support staff personnel. I miss being a teacher. Also, I'd like to be the "expert" in my room. When Spanish isn't your first language, you sometimes don't feel like the expert.
20 years ago as an undergrad, I took about 21 hours of history. I don't remember a lot of what I learned, but I've been reading and reviewing. I'm not willing to go back to school. I will, however, study on my own and read as much as I can. I'm confident I can pass the SS Praxis, but what kind of history teacher could I be? I feel like my history knowledge would be FAR behind people who've been teaching history already for years. Also, it seems like everybody knows history. Thoughts? Advice? I'm 40 years old too, so it's like learning a brand new subject at 40.
