Rehydrating dried crustaceans?
Post Body

Hello,

All of the information that I've been able to find about crustacean taxidermy assumes that you have a fresh specimen. I've ordered some already dried but not posed crabs and a slipper lobster from Ebay that I'd love to, at the very least, pose and seal. I might even try my hand at painting them to their original color but I'm not sure yet.

Regardless, can it even be done? What would I soak it in-- alcohol, formalin, something else? And for how long? Should I then open it up to remove whatever rehydrated meat remains or leave it be?

Example of what I'm talking about regarding the dried crabs: link to Imgur.

I really appreciate any and all help.
