Hey there,
I know everything is "points points points" but I wanted to wrap my head around what the future lists of Tau will look like. I saw the leaked play test points and felt pretty good with minor variation that this is something we are going to see. I have 100 reps of 10th and have 2-1 most local tournaments, usually dice shamed or 3rd game fatigue causing me issues. I think we still have it and heres my take on what the future of crisis spam will look like. That said I think there is some validity in the kroot detachment with Tau AT. I also think the kauyon/mont'ka are our weaker detachments on paper, shame on me if proven wrong just not feeling either.
List (R = likely reserves)
What it looks like:
The intent is to deny a turn 1 alpha from opponent, lone op/stealthy whatever, coupled with 980 points in reserve. Take the 10 kroot for the early sticky and either write them off or grab something else turn 2-3.
The joy is the coldstars are mirrored in load out but their enhancements make them situational, going vs knights? bring the redploy on the melta unit. Going vs swarm... etc etc. It also utilizes the grenade abuse from the internal grenade racks. If going vs all vehicle like knights we still have melta from commanders, shadowsun, 3 units of stealth. I've bounced around the idea of reducing the stealth suits to 2x3 and taking a 2nd piranha but am conflicted since they benefit from the 1str 1 ap if in range. I also want the cylcic on the ghostkeels but ive almost always previously run fusion colliders, do yall have a personal preference?
We are all theory crafting so just looking for some community input, is this how you see a suit list being played or should i pick up 3 riptides and table some of these filler points.
TLDR: Competitive tau theorycrafting, are we gonna stay at 52% or spiral ahead/below.
