Okay so I know this has been posted about multiple times but I just wanted to get some opinions. I just recently started at another target and every single time that I have worked, the leads/management say that i need to stay past my scheduled shift in order to make sure everything is finished. I work in style and Iāve only been doing closing shifts in RTW. We have maybe 6 people total in style, with 3 people closing if weāre lucky, and every time i try to leave at 11, i get a speech about how i need to stay and help with other areas or finish with my area. They fully try to guilt trip me and my coworkers both into staying saying they donāt want to have to leave at 1:30 in the morning (even though thatās theyāre own choice), or that we donāt have ālegitimateā reasons as to why we should be leaving at 11. Ive even clocked out and they have called me back to run down what could have been āāperfectedā or done better, ie: me not bringing the folded clothes to the edge of the shelf. I did tell her i clocked out and got hit with āoh i know itās okayā like?? then proceeds to tell me that my availability shows that i can work until midnight, so i should stay that late. I do like the option of staying for some extra hours every now and then but it honestly makes me uncomfortable how pushy they are with it and how bad they try to make you feel for not staying late.
So my question is what do you do in this situation? Donāt get me wrong i have been leaving at my scheduled time but what are you supposed to do when they constantly try to make you feel bad and give you a whole speech at the end of every shift? I know iām not obligated to stay in any way but i guess donāt know how to articulate that iām not going to stay late/ be taken advantage of without coming across as an asshole lmao
