HR knows, and throughout the hiring process they have been very sweet to me and always called me by my preferred name, even though it isn't my legal name yet. They even sent my documents to me with my preferred name. For example "hi Victoria, thank you for your interest in target! We are pleased to be able to send you this official job offer!". I have read and heard that target is very accepting and affirming, most especially to their trans employees. I was wondering if anybody could tell me any specific things that would make me feel not so nervous or anything like that. I'm as excited as I am anxious because I just don't know what to expect. This will be my first job since I started transitioning. Up until now I've only been a full time Uber and Lyft driver. This is in a pretty deeply red area of Texas, I mean trump got 90% of the vote in my county. They're starting me at Starbucks if that matters, and they said they will eventually crosstrain me into other roles and positions. I think the main reason I'm nervous is because of all the pride backlash and things I've seen with some stores taking down pride displays and stuff (no idea if mine has, I haven't been inside it yet). I don't want to be harassed or discriminated against but I don't want to be "tokenized" either. I just want to show up and do my job to the best of my ability and go home. I also heard the reason a lot of stores are taking down pride displays is because of threats or even actual violence employees have received from guests.
Sorry this went on a little long, but hearing info "from the inside" would be a really big help for me.
Thank you for reading.
