Poison edge.. good or bad?

I've heard lots of people say that poison edge slows down your run and I'm just wondering how. It just buffs damage on one titan and it's only 1 sp to unlock. So how is it harmful? The skill point optimizer always has that skill very near the top of skills to grab. I guess I'm just confused lol
