Uneven tan in tanning booth

I’ve been to three sessions in a tanning bed. I’ve tried laying on my back and also my side for a while each time and I look like a candy cane. Tan on font and back and very white on the sides. Any tips to even out the tan? I’m I being too impatient and it will even out in time?
