Tame Impala Fan Rift
Post Body

I feel like over the past decade or so I've noticed a clear rift between TP fans that were more drawn to his psych/prog rock era and have now kinda fallen off the bang wagon with his more electronic/pop era, then vice versa with the "newer" fans who started listening with Currents or TSR.

Myself, I dig his entire discography, and listening to some of his interviews I respect his perspective of artistic integrity by wanting to always try something new or bend the rules into new sounds. I think he had mentioned that he could've done 5 albums similar sounding to Innerspeaker or Lonerism but he felt it would be oversaturated in a sense. And I tend to agree.

Ultimately with any artist I feel like there will always be that rift between their fans from their older work to their newer, but since music is so subjective I always think it's silly to hear "I miss the old so and so". Artists are ever changing and at the very least we have to respect that, even if we don't like the new directions.
